THE HUMAN BEHIND THE DUCK

CHRIS MILLS

Leadership advisor. Author. Caller outer of workplace nonsense.

Practical leadership thinking, uncomfortable truths
and the occasional well placed F-Wit.

ABOUT CHRIS

Useful, honest, and free of corporate fog.

Chris Mills has spent more than two decades working with leaders, teams and organisations, which is more than enough time to discover that workplaces can be brilliant, rewarding, inspiring places.

They can also be completely ridiculous.

As a leadership advisor, coach and facilitator, Chris works with executives, frontline leaders and teams to tackle the stuff that actually affects how people experience work: poor leadership, difficult conversations, lack of accountability, broken trust, unhealthy cultures and the behaviours everyone can see but nobody seems willing to talk about.

In other words, the stuff beneath the corporate bullshit.

Chris has worked across construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, education and the not for profit sector, helping organisations build stronger leaders, healthier cultures and teams where people can actually speak honestly without updating their resume immediately afterwards.

His approach is practical, human and refreshingly direct. He believes leadership doesn’t need more buzzwords. It needs more courage, more empathy, clearer expectations, greater accountability, and occasionally someone willing to say: “Mate, you’re being a bit of an F-Wit.”

That philosophy became Dear F-Wit and its permanently unimpressed resident workplace observer, Gordon.

Through humour, uncomfortable truths and lessons drawn from real workplace experiences, Chris uses Dear F-Wit to explore the behaviours that make work unnecessarily difficult, while asking an equally uncomfortable question: What if sometimes the F-Wit is us?

FOCUS

Better leadership. Healthier cultures. Stronger teams

APPROACH

Practical. Human. Refreshingly direct.

BELIEF

Leadership is a daily choice. Small behaviours. Big impact.

Because Dear F-Wit isn’t really about pointing fingers at terrible bosses or annoying colleagues. It’s about recognising the impact our behaviour has on the people around us, and having enough self awareness to do something about it.

Chris is based in Brisbane, Australia. Away from leadership and workplace F-Wits, he’s a lifelong learner who enjoys adventure, fitness, motorcycles and spending time with his family.

And Gordon. Although Gordon is becoming increasingly difficult to manage.

GORDON’S FAVOURITE LEADERSHIP INTERVENTION

“Mate, you’re being a bit of an F-Wit.”
